The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC), in association with Let’s Celebrate Fitness, will organise the Kharghar Hills Mayor Marathon Promo Run on April 18 at Central Park, Sector 23, Kharghar.
The event is being positioned as a precursor to the main marathon, aimed at encouraging participation from across the city’s growing community of runners and fitness enthusiasts.
Pre-event run to build participation
The Promo Run is expected to serve as an entry point for both first-time participants and regular runners, while generating early momentum for the larger marathon event.
The initiative also aligns with broader efforts to promote fitness and encourage community participation in organised sporting activities.
The run will feature three categories:
- 3 km (non-timed)
- 5 km (non-timed)
- 10 km (timed run)
While the 10 km category is expected to attract experienced runners, the shorter distances are intended to make the event accessible to a wider audience.
Nominal entry fee and limited slots
Registration has been kept at a nominal fee of around ₹99, making participation accessible to a broad section of the public.
The event is expected to have a participation cap of approximately 2,000 runners, with registrations being conducted online.
Central Park to host the event
Central Park in Kharghar, a commonly used venue for public and fitness events, will serve as the starting point for the run. Its open layout and surrounding terrain make it suitable for short and mid-distance formats.
Part of larger marathon initiative
The Promo Run forms part of the larger Kharghar Hills Mayor Marathon initiative, with the April 18 event aimed at building engagement ahead of the main race.
With participation expected from across Navi Mumbai, the event is likely to see a mix of competitive and recreational runners.
