BJP organises padyatra in Panvel to raise awareness on ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’

A padyatra was organised in Panvel on Thursday by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to create awareness and gather public support for the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’.

The padyatra was led by MLA Prashant Thakur, BJP Maharashtra state secretary, along with North Raigad district president Avinash Koli and Mahila Morcha district president Priya Mukadam.

Route covered key city locations

The padyatra commenced from the BJP’s Panvel city office and proceeded through the market area. Participants paid tribute at the statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar before continuing through major roads in the city.

Placards, banners and slogans were used during the march to communicate the provisions and significance of the legislation.

Public outreach and signature campaign conducted

As part of the initiative, a signature campaign was also carried out during the padyatra to gather public support. According to organisers, the campaign received participation from residents along the route.

Leaders highlight provisions of the legislation

Addressing participants, MLA Prashant Thakur stated that the legislation seeks to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies, and emphasised its potential role in increasing women’s participation in governance.

He also appealed to citizens to support the initiative.

Participation from local representatives and residents

The event saw the presence of local representatives and party office-bearers, including Panvel Mayor Nitin Patil, along with a large number of party workers, women participants and residents.
