Prabhakar Joshi, founder of Shubham Social Welfare Foundation, Kharghar, and his wife Sujata Joshi were recently felicitated by ISKCON Kharghar in recognition of their continued contribution towards social service and humanitarian support for cancer patients and their families.
The couple was honoured during a programme organised under the ‘Holistic Cancer Healing Retreat’ and ‘Krishna Sanjeevani – The Divine Music’ initiatives launched at ISKCON Temple, Kharghar, for the welfare and emotional support of cancer patients and their relatives.
The event was attended by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, former MP and senior social leader Ramsheth Thakur, former MP Dr Sunil Gaikwad, ISKCON Navi Mumbai temple president Dr Sur Das, Bhaktivedanta College director Dr V Sevak Das, Calvin Seungwon Yi, District Collector Kishan Jawale, Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, Dr Vikram Gota, Dr Amit Joshi, Dr Rajneesh Kamat, Dr Avinash Tipanni and several other dignitaries.
During the programme, the Joshi couple was felicitated for their sustained efforts through the Shubham Social Welfare Foundation towards assisting cancer patients and families navigating medical treatment and related challenges.
According to organisers, the foundation has for several years been helping patients with guidance related to treatment procedures, assistance in preparing files and documentation at Tata Memorial Hospital, and information regarding various government and social welfare schemes available for patients.
The organisation has also reportedly been assisting relatives of patients with accommodation-related support during treatment periods.
Apart from healthcare-related assistance, the foundation has additionally been involved in social initiatives linked to rural issues, employment support for needy youth and participation in various community welfare activities.
Recognising these contributions, the ISKCON Kharghar trust presented the couple with a commemorative memento during the programme.
Several dignitaries present on the occasion appreciated the couple’s social service initiatives and expressed hope that their humanitarian efforts would continue to inspire similar community-oriented work in the future.
Speaking after the felicitation, Prabhakar Joshi stated that the recognition would further encourage the organisation to continue working actively for underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society.
