Amid rising public frustration over recurring electricity disruptions across Kamothe, Panvel and nearby areas, BJP Maharashtra state secretary and MLA Prashant Thakur on Sunday visited the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) office in Bhingari and sought explanations from officials regarding the continued power supply issues.

During the visit, Thakur held discussions with executive engineers and senior officials while expressing strong displeasure over the frequent interruptions in electricity supply affecting residential and commercial areas.

Thakur pointed out that repeated power outages were causing inconvenience to residents, traders and students across Panvel, Kamothe and surrounding localities, particularly during the ongoing summer period.

He further alleged that the issue was not receiving adequate attention despite persistent complaints from citizens and directed officials to initiate immediate and effective corrective measures to stabilise electricity supply in the region.

Thakur also called for urgent completion of required maintenance works and technical upgrades to minimise repeated disruptions and provide relief to residents facing daily inconvenience due to irregular supply.

Speaking during the visit, the MLA warned that negligence and continued inaction by the electricity distribution authorities would not be tolerated further.

He stated that if immediate steps were not taken to improve the situation, a public agitation could be launched over the issue. He further warned that continued poor functioning of the department could lead to intensified protests against the concerned office.

Present during the visit were BJP Kamothe Mandal president and corporator Vikas Gharat, corporator Dr Arunkumar Bhagat, Pradeep Bhagat, Ravindra Joshi, Damodar Chavan and several other office-bearers.

The issue of recurring electricity disruptions has remained a matter of concern for several residents across the Panvel region in recent weeks, with citizens closely watching the response and corrective measures likely to be undertaken by the power distribution authorities in the coming days.
