Former MP and senior social leader Ramsheth Thakur has extended financial support of Rs 1 crore towards cancer care and wellness initiatives launched at the ISKCON Temple in Kharghar.
The contribution has been extended for the “Holistic Cancer Healing Retreat” and “Krishna Sanjeevani – The Divine Music” initiatives, which aim to provide emotional, spiritual and psychological support to cancer patients and their families alongside conventional medical treatment.
Ramsheth Thakur, who has over the years supported initiatives across education, healthcare, sports, religious and social sectors, stated his support for the project as part of broader community welfare efforts focused on assisting vulnerable and distressed sections of society.
According to organisers, the Holistic Cancer Healing Retreat initiative seeks to complement modern medical treatment through yoga, meditation, music therapy, positive lifestyle practices and spiritual guidance aimed at improving the emotional and mental well-being of patients.
Meanwhile, the Krishna Sanjeevani – The Divine Music initiative has been designed around devotional and therapeutic music sessions intended to promote inner peace, emotional stability and mental wellness among patients and caregivers.
Those present at the programme described the financial support extended by Ramsheth Thakur as a significant contribution towards strengthening the outreach and sustainability of the initiative and extending support services to a larger number of patients and families.
The contribution was welcomed with applause during the event.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, former MP Dr Sunil Gaikwad, ISKCON Navi Mumbai Temple president Dr Sur Das, Bhaktivedanta College director Dr V Sevak Das, Calvin Seungwon Yi, District Collector Kishan Jawale, Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, Dr Vikram Gota, Dr Amit Joshi, Dr Rajneesh Kamat and Dr Avinash Tipanni, among others, were present at the programme.
Speaking during the event, dignitaries emphasised that the fight against cancer involves not only medical treatment but also emotional and spiritual strength for patients and their families.
Organisers stated that the initiatives are intended to create a more holistic support environment for individuals undergoing cancer treatment while promoting awareness around integrated healing and mental well-being.
In another story, a free cancer screening and health camp for women is being organised in New Panvel on June 2 as part of the Amrut Mahotsav year celebrations of Ramsheth Thakur.
