Sports enthusiasts gathered in large numbers at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Ground in Panvel on Sunday night as the “Pareshdada Cup 2026” night cricket tournament witnessed a competitive and energetic turnout.
The tournament was organised by BJP Panvel City Mandal on the occasion of the birthday of former Leader of the House in the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) and current corporator Paresh Thakur.
The cricket competition was organised under the initiative of BJP Panvel city president and corporator Sumit Jhunjarrao and featured teams comprising professionals such as lawyers, doctors etc., officials and representatives from various service sectors.
Several closely contested matches were played during the tournament, with the lawyers’ team putting up an all-round performance to clinch the championship trophy. The doctors’ team secured the runners-up position after an impressive campaign.
MLA and BJP Maharashtra secretary Prashant Thakur, Mayor Nitin Patil, BJP North Raigad district president Avinash Koli, former Leader of the House and corporator Paresh Thakur, corporators Pravin Patil, Dasharath Mhatre, Ajay Bahira and several other public representatives and office-bearers were present during the event.
Winning teams and players were felicitated by the dignitaries present at the tournament.
