In a noteworthy step towards strengthening education in a remote region of Maharashtra, an Art Forum and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre have been established at the Loknete Ramsheth Thakur Arts, Science and Commerce College in Mokhada, run by the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha.
The newly created facilities were inaugurated by the institution’s Chairman Chandrakant Dalvi, during a programme that also featured the college’s annual prize distribution ceremony, held in the presence of several dignitaries.
Focus on Holistic Development of Students
Despite being located in a geographically remote and tribal belt, the college has continued to expand opportunities for its students through institutional support and educational initiatives.
Former Member of Parliament Loknete Ramsheth Thakur, a member of the Managing Council of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, has played a significant role in supporting the development of the institution. His contributions have helped strengthen educational facilities and encourage students from rural and tribal backgrounds to pursue higher education.
Artificial Intelligence in Education
Speaking at the inauguration, Chairman Chandrakant Dalvi emphasised that the present era is increasingly defined by technological advancement.
He noted that Artificial Intelligence is emerging as an important direction for future progress, with growing applications in education and research. Establishing an AI centre at the college, he said, would help students become familiar with modern technologies and expand their learning opportunities.
Dalvi also encouraged students to embrace technological education and prepare themselves for emerging opportunities in an increasingly competitive world. He praised the institution’s work and described it as one of the notable colleges serving rural regions.
Continued Support for Rural Education
Addressing the gathering, Loknete Ramsheth Thakur highlighted the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to education in rural and tribal communities.
He stated that empowering students from such regions through education remains one of the institution’s core objectives.
During the programme, Thakur announced an additional donation of ₹38 lakh for the college’s development, adding to an earlier contribution of ₹62 lakh made for strengthening the institution’s infrastructure.
Felicitation of Students and Faculty
The event also included the release of the college’s publication and the felicitation of meritorious students and teachers for their achievements.
Among the dignitaries present were MLA Sunil Bhusara, Mokhada Nagar Panchayat President Amol Patil, Rayat Shikshan Sanstha Vice Chairman Bhagirath Shinde, General Body member Y.T. Deshmukh, Secretary of the Janardan Bhagat Education Trust S.T. Gadde, College Development Committee member Prakash Nikam, along with professors, non-teaching staff, students and parents.
The initiative marks another step in extending technology-enabled learning to students in remote parts of the state, while reinforcing the role of educational institutions in bridging the urban–rural knowledge divide.
