The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Panvel, has announced the ‘Bappa Morya’ Home Eco-Friendly Ganpati Decoration Competition ahead of this year’s Ganeshotsav, inviting residents to showcase their creativity while promoting environmentally conscious celebrations.
The competition is intended to provide residents with a platform to display their artistic skills and encourage the use of eco-friendly materials during Ganeshotsav. Participants will be felicitated with trophies and certificates, while winners will have an opportunity to receive prizes totalling up to Rs 25,000.
Thermocol prohibited
The use of thermocol items for Ganpati decorations is strictly prohibited under the competition rules. Participants are required to use environmentally friendly materials for their decorations.
The competition is open to residents of Panvel city Wards 14, 18, 19 and 20.
Those wishing to participate must register by 12 September 2026. Participants are required to provide their full name, address and contact number at the time of registration.

The organisers have stated that the decision of the competition judges will be final and binding on all participants.

Appeal for eco-friendly celebrations
Paresh Thakur, corporator of Panvel Municipal Corporation and former House Leader, has appealed to residents of the participating wards to take part in the competition in large numbers and celebrate Ganeshotsav in an environmentally responsible manner.
Thakur said the objective was to encourage celebrations that retain the devotional character of Ganeshotsav while also promoting social and environmental awareness among residents.
