Panvel: A cultural evening centred around Indian classical traditions is set to unfold in the city, with the ‘Khushrang’ music festival scheduled to be held on 4 April.
The festival is being jointly organised by Shri Ramsheth Thakur Samajik Vikas Mandal, Panvel and Nadbrahma Sadhana Mandal, Kharghar, bringing together a range of musical and performing art forms under one platform.
An evening of music and dance traditions
The programme will be held at the mandal’s auditorium in the Market Yard area of Panvel, where audiences will get to experience a blend of:
- Hindustani classical vocal music
- Bhajan (devotional music)
- Kathak (classical dance form)
The event will feature performances by senior artists as well as trained disciples from established musical lineages.
Line-up of artists
Among those scheduled to perform are:
- Pandit Girish Sanjagiri, a disciple of the Kirana gharana
- Pandit Mahesh Kulkarni, trained under noted gurus
- Vocal performances by Vinayak Lalit and Tanushree Jog
The kathak segment, conceptualised by Pandit Vinayak Naik, will be presented by disciples Arya Mahajan and Rutuja Kulkarni, under the guidance of Dr Vaishali Dudhe.
Grand musical finale
The concluding segment of the festival will feature performances by:
- Ustad Aslam Khan (Khushrang)
- Ustad Azeem Khan
- Bhajan exponent H.B.P. Nivruttibuva Chaudhary
- Pandit Umesh Chaudhary, a disciple of Pandita Shubhada Tai Paradkar
Accompaniment and presentation
The performances will be supported by:
- Samvadini accompaniment by Vinayak Lalit and Smita Manohar
- Tabla accompaniment by Pandit Mahesh Kanhole, Prasad Sutar, Vinayak Naik, Bhakti Jadhav and Sudhindra Bagal
- Pakhawaj by Somdatt Mane
- Additional instrumental support by Jagdish Mhatre
The programme will be compered by Sopan Aadhav.
