The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has presented an estimated budget of ₹4,853 crore for the financial year 2026–27, outlining a broad push towards infrastructure development and improved civic services.
The budget was tabled by Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale before the Standing Committee, chaired by Baban Mukadam, during a special meeting.
At its core, the budget places emphasis on what the city arguably needs most at this stage — strengthening its basic urban backbone. Key focus areas include infrastructure development, water supply, public health services, sanitation and education, along with efforts to enhance the overall quality of civic amenities.
In simple terms, it is a budget that attempts to balance expansion with essentials — not just building more, but also improving what already exists.
Senior civic officials, including Additional Commissioners Ganesh Shete and Maheshkumar Meghmale, Chief Finance and Accounts Officer Mangesh Gawde, Chief Auditor Nilesh Nalawade and other officials, were present during the presentation.
While the finer allocations and project-level details are expected to be examined in subsequent discussions, the broader direction is clear — a continued push towards structured urban growth in a city that is expanding rapidly.
For a municipal body overseeing one of the fastest-growing nodes of Navi Mumbai, the real test, as always, will lie not in the size of the budget, but in how effectively it is translated on the ground.
