Members of the BJP Yuva Morcha in New Panvel have raised concerns over alleged restrictions on religious practices of employees at certain outlets of eyewear retailer Lenskart.
According to a representation submitted by local office-bearers, complaints have been received claiming that some employees were discouraged from displaying religious symbols such as tilak, kumkum or sacred threads, and from observing certain festivals.
Memorandum submitted to management
A written memorandum was submitted to the company’s local management by Yuva Morcha representatives, seeking clarification on the matter. The memorandum stated that such restrictions, if enforced, could raise concerns related to employees’ rights to practise their beliefs.
Call for clarification
The organisation has urged the company to clarify its official policy and ensure that no discriminatory practices are followed at its outlets.
Warning of protest
Representatives have stated that if a satisfactory response is not received, they may consider staging a protest in the coming days.
There has been no official response from Lenskart on the matter so far.
