Over 3,000 participants took part in the Kharghar Hills Mayor Marathon Promo Run organised by the Panvel Municipal Corporation and Let’s Celebrate Fitness in Kharghar.

The Kharghar Hills Mayor Marathon Promo Run drew over 3,000 participants, with runners turning out in large numbers across the 5 km and 10 km categories in Kharghar, marking a strong response to the preparatory event.

The Marathon, dubbed as a Promo Run, was organised by the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) in association with Let’s Celebrate Fitness, was earlier scheduled to take place on 18th April, but was later rescheduled to 19th April, owing to the fact that it was a working Saturday for most of the participants. the run was flagged off at Central Park by MLA Prashant Thakur and Panvel Mayor Nitin Patil.

Participants across age groups took part in the early morning run, with a visible mix of seasoned runners and first-time participants, reflecting the growing appeal of organised fitness events in the Kharghar–Panvel belt.

The scale of participation also underlined the civic body’s efforts to position the upcoming Kharghar Hills Mayor Marathon as a significant sporting event in the region.

Officials used the occasion to formally set the tone for the main marathon scheduled in August 2026, informing participants that the event will feature multiple race categories, including 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km.

Participants were also encouraged to begin preparations for the August event, with the Promo Run serving as an initial step towards the larger marathon.
