A meeting to discuss Raigad district’s growing drinking water requirements, the possibility of water shortages and integrated planning of available water resources, along with the proposal for a separate ‘Raigad STEM Authority’, will be held at the Maharashtra Secretariat in Mumbai on 29 September 2026.
The meeting has been convened following a demand raised by Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur and will be chaired by Girish Mahajan, Maharashtra’s Minister for Water Resources and Disaster Management. The state’s Water Resources Regulatory Authority currently identifies Mahajan as the minister overseeing the Vidarbha, Tapi and Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation.
The meeting is scheduled for 3.15 pm on Tuesday, 29 September, in Room No. 605 (Extension), sixth floor, Extension Building, Mantralaya, Mumbai.
Water demand and resource planning on agenda
Thakur is expected to attend the meeting along with officials from the Water Supply and Water Resources departments and other concerned departments.
According to the meeting agenda, discussions will focus on the increasing demand for drinking water in Raigad, the possibility of water shortages, integrated planning and management of available water resources, and the proposal to establish a separate Raigad STEM Authority.
The proposed authority is being put forward in the context of the need for coordinated planning of the district’s water resources as demand for drinking water increases.
The meeting is expected to provide a platform for the elected representative and officials from the concerned departments to examine the proposal and related water-management issues. No decision on establishing the proposed authority has been announced in the material provided for the meeting.
