Measures were recently undertaken to address a drainage overflow issue in Dharna village of Panvel after residents raised concerns over gutter water flowing onto internal roads in the locality.
According to locals, the overflowing drainage water had resulted in foul smell across parts of the village, causing inconvenience to residents and raising concerns ahead of the approaching monsoon season.
The issue had reportedly created apprehension among villagers that the situation could worsen further during heavy rainfall if timely intervention was not carried out.
Former Rohinjan Gram Panchayat sarpanch and OBC Cell taluka president Nandkumar Mhatre took up the matter with the concerned authorities and carried out continuous follow-up regarding the issue, following which remedial measures were initiated.
Speaking on the occasion, Mhatre stated that coordination with the administration would continue in order to address civic issues related to basic public facilities in the area.
He further said that timely resolution of issues related to sanitation, public health and village development remains important, particularly in the run-up to the monsoon season.
Municipal staff members, along with Suresh Porji, Nehal Thakur, Umesh Madhvi, Kathor Madhvi, Suraj Patil, Hanuman Patil and several local residents, were present during the visit and related works.
