The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) carried out an enforcement drive in the Navi Mumbai airport (NMIA) area, removing a number of unauthorised roadside structures, including eateries and temporary stalls.
The action was undertaken along Amra Marg and adjoining stretches near the airport compound, where several makeshift structures had come up over time.
Structures removed, materials seized
According to officials, the drive targeted illegal dhabas, pan stalls, tea kiosks and other temporary setups operating without permission. The structures were dismantled and associated materials were seized during the operation.
Area flagged for encroachments
Civic authorities noted that the stretch had increasingly seen unauthorised commercial activity, leading to concerns related to congestion, sanitation and safety in the vicinity of the airport.
Focus on security and regulation
Officials stated that the airport zone is considered a sensitive area, and the presence of unregulated structures could pose logistical and security challenges. The drive was carried out as part of efforts to maintain order and ensure compliance with regulations.

CIDCO officials indicated that similar enforcement drives will continue, particularly in and around the airport area, to prevent fresh encroachments and maintain the zone as encroachment-free.
