Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) recently recorded another milestone in the expansion of its international cargo operations with the arrival of a Boeing 747F freighter operated by National Airlines from Frankfurt-Hahn, Germany.
The aircraft, popularly known as the ‘Queen of the Skies’, was the first Boeing 747 freighter to have arrived at Navi Mumbai International Airport. Its arrival added yet another significant development to NMIA’s growing international air cargo operations.
The National Airlines Boeing 747F was welcomed at the airport with a traditional water-cannon salute. The aircraft arrived carrying cargo from Frankfurt-Hahn, a major European air cargo hub.
National Airlines currently operates nine Boeing 747 freighter aircraft in its fleet. The aircrafts are used for transporting large volumes of cargo as well as for humanitarian assistance and specialised cargo operations.
The arrival of the Boeing 747F further highlights Navi Mumbai International Airport’s emerging role in international air cargo operations and its potential to support the movement of larger cargo consignments between the Mumbai region and global markets.
