The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has initiated steps to accelerate the implementation of the Kisan Nagar Cluster Development Scheme in Thane, aimed at redeveloping ageing structures and improving housing conditions.
The project will be undertaken under the guidance of CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal, who described the initiative as part of the agency’s broader approach towards urban redevelopment and housing.
Focus on housing and redevelopment
As part of the scheme, around 4,000 housing units are proposed to be developed through a slum rehabilitation model. Eligible residents are expected to be provided homes measuring 322 sq ft.
Officials indicated that the project will also include provision for commercial units for local residents, alongside residential development.
Implementation framework
The redevelopment is expected to be carried out through selected developers to ensure construction quality and timely execution.
Statement and source
Singhal stated that providing safe and permanent housing remains an important aspect of CIDCO’s responsibilities, adding that the project aims to address redevelopment needs in the area.
The remarks were made during an interaction with ABP Majha.
