The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has been ranked fourth among 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra under the state’s 150-day e-governance administrative reforms assessment.
The recognition was presented at a programme held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, where Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar received the citation on behalf of the civic body in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other senior officials.
In a similar fashion, the Panvel Municipal Corporation ranked 1st in state, securing the top rank in the state’s 150-Day Administrative Reforms Programme, emerging as the highest-ranked civic body in the latest evaluation cycle.
The ranking follows a structured evaluation of digital governance and administrative systems implemented across civic bodies. NMMC had earlier secured the third position in a similar 100-day reform programme.
Over the past year, the civic body has focused on expanding online services for residents — from property tax payments and certificates to grievance redressal and access to municipal information — through its website, mobile app and integrated government platforms.
The assessment also reviewed backend systems such as e-office implementation, digital dashboards for decision-making and the use of tools like chatbots and GIS-based services, which are increasingly being used to streamline day-to-day operations.
Officials said the emphasis has been on making services more accessible while improving internal efficiency, with over a thousand staff members now using digital systems for routine administrative work.
The latest ranking places Navi Mumbai among the better-performing municipal corporations in the state in terms of digital governance, with the civic body expected to continue expanding such systems in the coming months.
