As part of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Navi Mumbai Plastic and E-Waste Recyclothon, a wall painting activity was carried out at Rajiv Gandhi Udyan in Airoli, bringing a visual dimension to the city’s ongoing cleanliness and sustainability campaign.
Students from the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Datta Meghe College of Engineering participated in the initiative, transforming sections of the public space with murals centred on environmental awareness.
The artwork focused on themes such as responsible waste disposal, reduction of plastic use, and the importance of maintaining clean public spaces. By placing these messages within a commonly used park, the initiative ensures that the messaging remains visible and accessible to residents on a daily basis.
Beyond aesthetics, the murals serve a functional purpose. They act as constant visual cues, encouraging citizens to adopt environmentally responsible behaviour and contribute to a cleaner urban environment.
The activity forms part of a broader effort under the Recyclothon campaign, which seeks to involve citizens, institutions and youth in promoting sustainable waste management practices across Navi Mumbai.
