Marking World Autism Awareness Day, Navi Mumbai hosted its first Autism Run, an initiative organised by Sunshine School, Vashi, aimed at promoting awareness and fostering a more inclusive society.

The event was flagged off by NMMC Mayor Sujata Patil in the presence of former Deputy Commissioner Dr. Babasaheb Rajale, lending institutional support to the initiative.

The run brought together citizens from across the city, creating a platform to recognise and support individuals on the autism spectrum. The focus remained firmly on encouraging acceptance and building a more informed understanding of neurodiversity within the community.

Powered by Let’s Celebrate Fitness, a city-based ngo, led by Richa Sameet, the event saw active participation and engagement, reflecting a growing willingness among residents to be part of socially relevant initiatives.

By combining public participation with a clear social message, the Autism Run sets a precedent for similar awareness-driven events in the city, placing inclusion and community involvement at the centre of its purpose.
