In a move aimed at strengthening urban services, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has flagged off and dedicated a set of advanced utility and sanitation machines for public use. MLA Prashant Thakur flagged off the vehicles in the presence of other party workers and officials of the PMC.
The newly introduced fleet includes six sky lift vehicles, four litter picker machines and two mechanised sweeping machines. The addition is expected to support routine maintenance work and improve overall cleanliness across different parts of the city.
Sky lift vehicles will enable safer and more efficient execution of tasks such as maintenance of streetlights and other elevated infrastructure, reducing dependence on manual methods. Litter picker machines are designed to assist in collecting scattered waste from public spaces, particularly in areas where manual collection is slower or less effective.
The mechanised sweeping machines are expected to improve maintenance of major roads and high-traffic stretches, where regular cleaning is essential but difficult to sustain through manual labour alone.
While the overall impact will depend on consistent deployment, the introduction of these machines reflects a shift towards more mechanised and efficient civic operations in the Panvel region.
For a rapidly growing urban area, these additions are expected to support better upkeep of public spaces and strengthen the delivery of basic municipal services.
