Former MP and Rayat Shikshan Sanstha Managing Council member Ramsheth Thakur, along with his wife Shakuntala Thakur and Thakur Infraprojects Limited, was felicitated by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha in Satara after contributing Rs 3.62 crore towards the institution’s educational development initiatives this year.
The felicitation ceremony was held on May 9 at the historic Karmaveer Bhoomi in Satara during the 67th death anniversary programme of Padma Bhushan Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, founder of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha.
Sharad Pawar felicitates Ramsheth Thakur and family
The honour was presented at the hands of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha president and MP Sharad Pawar in the presence of several political leaders, educationists and office-bearers associated with the institution.
A special felicitation was also organised on the occasion of Ramsheth Thakur’s Amrut Mahotsav year, during which dignitaries extended their wishes and acknowledged his long-standing association with the institution.
Contribution towards education and infrastructure highlighted
According to the institution, Ramsheth Thakur has contributed more than Rs 100 crore over the years towards the progress and expansion of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha through personal philanthropy and institutional support.
The institution highlighted that despite being associated with his own educational organisation — Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha — Thakur has continued to extend support to Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, particularly for branches located in rural and tribal regions.
Institution representatives noted that his contributions have supported the development of educational and physical infrastructure across multiple branches and helped improve educational access for students from economically weaker backgrounds.
Paresh Thakur among those felicitated
Along with Ramsheth and Shakuntala Thakur, Panvel Municipal Corporation corporator and chairman of Shakuntala Ramsheth Thakur CBSE School, Paresh Thakur, was also felicitated during the ceremony on behalf of Thakur Infraprojects Limited.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders and office-bearers, including Rayat Shikshan Sanstha chairman Chandrakant Dalvi, secretary Vikas Deshmukh, organiser Dr Anil Patil, MLA Prashant Thakur, MP Supriya Sule, MLA Rohit Pawar, MLA Dilip Walse Patil and others.
Educational achievers and institutions also honoured
During the programme, tribute was paid to former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar following his recent demise.
The institution also honoured various Rayat branches, teachers, professors and students for achievements in education, research, social work and sports under different award categories, including the ‘Karmaveer Puraskar’.
Institution chairman Chandrakant Dalvi reviewed the organisation’s journey and activities during the programme, while secretary Vikas Deshmukh delivered the introductory address.
