With door-to-door Census 2027 verification scheduled to begin from May 16, residents across Navi Mumbai still have a limited window to complete the self-enumeration process online.
The first phase of the census, which allows people to submit household details digitally, will remain open till May 15. Once completed, residents receive a Self Enumeration ID (SEID), which can later be shared with field enumerators during household visits.

Officials believe the advance online submission process could significantly ease the workload during the second phase, particularly in a large and densely populated urban region such as Navi Mumbai, where enumerators are expected to cover thousands of households within a fixed timeline.
Unlike traditional door-to-door data collection alone, the self-enumeration facility allows residents to complete much of the process at their own convenience using a mobile phone or computer.

Officials believe this could reduce delays during field visits, especially in residential complexes and high-density neighbourhoods where coordinating household availability often becomes time-consuming.

Authorities have also pointed out that information entered directly by residents themselves is generally more accurate, reducing the chances of spelling errors, incomplete entries or communication gaps during physical visits.
The self-enumeration process is also expected to help enumerators focus more on verification rather than collecting all details from scratch during household visits.
