A training camp for the men’s and women’s kabaddi teams of the Raigad District Kabaddi Association will be held in Panvel from March 25 to 31, 2026, in preparation for the Maharashtra State Championship selection trials.
The state-level competition is scheduled to take place in Sinnar from April 2 to 6, 2026.
Focus on State-level preparation
The camp aims to help players prepare for the selection trials through focused training in:
- Technical skills
- Physical conditioning
- Team coordination
A total of 14 players and 2 coaches in both the men’s and women’s team will participate in the camp.
Venue and Facilities
The camp will be conducted at the ground of CKT College.
Participants will be provided with:
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Training facilities
- Sports kits
The initiative is being organised with the support of the Ramsheth Thakur Social Development Mandal.
Coaching and Guidance
The training programme will be conducted under the guidance of international kabaddi coach Sharad Kadam and Chhatrapati Award-winning player Suryakant Thakur.
The focus will be on strengthening players at:
- Technical level
- Physical level
- Mental preparedness
Opening Ceremony
The camp is scheduled to be inaugurated on March 25 at 5 pm, with former Member of Parliament Ramsheth Thakur expected to be present.
Supporting local sports development
The camp is being organised as part of efforts to support and strengthen kabaddi at the district level, and to provide players with structured preparation ahead of state-level competition.
Organisers expressed confidence that the initiative will help the Raigad teams perform effectively in the upcoming tournament.
