The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has reported a strong response to its ‘Abhay Yojana’, with 5,744 property tax defaulters availing the scheme within nine days of its implementation.
According to official figures, the civic body has collected ₹20,15,12,527 in pending property tax during this period. The scheme, introduced on March 10, 2026, will remain in force until March 31, 2026 (midnight).
50% Relief on Penalty Charges
Under the Abhay Yojana, property owners — including residential, commercial, industrial and vacant land holders — are eligible for a 50% waiver on late payment penalties, provided they clear their outstanding dues in a single payment within the stipulated period.
Civic officials have appealed to remaining defaulters to utilise the scheme and clear pending dues before the deadline.
Participation Across Nodes
The scheme has seen participation from across Navi Mumbai, including Airoli, Belapur, Digha, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane, Nerul, Turbhe and Vashi, contributing to the overall collection.
Online Payments Preferred
Of the total 5,744 property owners who availed the scheme, 3,134 taxpayers (approximately 55%) opted to pay their dues online, reflecting a growing preference for digital payment modes.

Designated tax collection centres
Centres Open on Holidays
To facilitate maximum participation, NMMC has decided to keep tax collection centres operational on weekends as well as on public holidays, including Gudi Padwa (March 19), Ramzan Eid (March 21), Ram Navami (March 26) and Mahavir Jayanti (March 31).
On working days, centres will function between 10 am and 5 pm.
The civic body has urged property owners who are yet to clear their dues to take advantage of the scheme before March 31, 2026, and benefit from the penalty waiver. contributing to the city’s overall revenue collection.
