Ritghar/Panvel: The felicitation ceremony of former MP Ramsheth Thakur in Ritghar, a part of his ongoing Amrut Mahotsav, concluded on a high note — marked by strong community participation and a significant financial announcement for the local educational infrastructure.
Organised jointly by Shri Bhairavdev Vidyalaya and Loknete Ramsheth Thakur Higher Secondary School, the event saw a whole lot of cultural programmes and performances, along with speeches.
₹40 lakh announcement for school development
Addressing the gathering, Ramsheth Thakur expressed gratitude for the scale and warmth of the event, noting that the response had given him renewed motivation to continue contributing to public life.
In a key announcement, he stated that ₹40 lakh will be provided for the construction of an assembly hall. These will also be utilised for flooring work within the school premises. He further assured that additional financial support, if needed, may be extended.
The announcement was received positively by attendees, particularly members of the local community and school administration.
Strong attendance across local leadership and community
The event, held under the chairmanship of Ramsheth Thakur, saw the presence of several public representatives and local leaders, including MLA Prashant Thakur, Rayat Shikshan Sanstha representatives including J. M. Mhatre, Arun Sheth Bhagat, Y. T. Deshmukh, Panvel Panchayat Samiti office bearers including chairperson Ranjana Vaskar and deputy chairperson Bhupendra Patil, Former and current Zilla Parishad and Panchayat members, Local grampanchayat representatives and the school’s committee members
The gathering also saw participation from parents, villagers, alumni and students in large numbers.
Cultural presentations and student participation
The programme began with an introductory address by headmaster R. B. Karande, setting the tone for the event. Later, students and alumni contributed through speeches reflecting on Ramsheth Thakur’s life and work. It was followed by cultural performances, including a dance presentation depicting his life journey
The performance was choreographed by faculty members, adding a structured and thoughtful touch to the presentation.
Felicitations and community engagement
A ceremonial traditional honouring ritual was conducted by women teachers, followed by a formal felicitation by the school through a citation of honour.
Additionally, 75 members of the Warkari community were presented with copies of the Bhagavad Gita, continuing a key element that was earlier announced as part of the programme.
