Over 21 poor and needy women residing in Panvel were gifted with new sewing machines by the Panvel Navi Mumbai Patrakar Sangh recently, on Friday, February 27 at the Ramsheth Thakur Samajik Vikas Mandal, Panvel.
The occasion coincided with the birthday of the Sangh’s President, Mayur Tambde.
Mayur has given his colleagues a new lesson in giving something to the society in his own way. He has led by example showing journalists are the mirrors of our society, and can bring about a progressive change in the society. He has taught how the role of a journalist is important in raising their voice against the injustices being done in the society.
Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur congratulated him on his birthday, wishing him joy in the birthdays to follow. He praised the social service carried out by the Sangh under Mayur Tambde over the years, through such events. Last year, the association had distributed 33 bicycles to tribal and poor students in the Panvel region, along with school supplies, notebooks, school bags, etc. He said that such events should continue to be held and inspire others to do the same.
A beautiful poem was recited by Poet Ashok Gharat on the occasion.
The occasion was graced by Panvel Mayor Nitin Patil, former Mayor J. M. Mhatre, former Leader of Opposition Pritam Mhatre, former Corporator Prathamesh Soman, BJP’s Hon. Co-Convenor-Cultural Cell Sunil Sinha, renowned Dr. Girish Gune, Pandit Mohan Joshi, Corporator Sumit Jhunjarrao, Aparna Shah of Bhavana Group, social activists Yogesh Tamboli, Harshala Tamboli, Dr. Laxmikant Nikam, Shahid Bhai and many others.
Apart from extending birthday wishes, all the dignitaries unanimously praised the work being carried out by the Panvel Navi Mumbai Patrakar Sangh.
Aparna Shah of Bhavana Group, appreciated this initiative and assured that they would participate in all such further events.
Dr. Girish Gune praised the social service activities carried out by the Sangh in a speech.
Apart from the dignitaries, several members of the Panvel Navi Mumbai Patrakar Sangh such Vice President Deepak Kamble, Secretary Lalchand Yadav, Treasurer Milind Kharpatil, Members Ramesh Bhole, Ashok Gorde, Deepak Jage, Sameer Veshvikar, Pankaj Tambde etc. were present at the event, along with several journalists from in and around the city.
